Why Art Therapy?

Stepping away from busy city life to the calm shoreline opens space for youth to reconnect with themselves. Our guided art sessions are not about perfection—they focus on expression, grounding, and healthy emotional release. Each group is facilitated by an art therapist and a mental health first aider to ensure the environment stays supportive and safe.

  • Quarterly meetups limited to 30 participants for intimacy and safety.
  • All materials provided, including canvases, brushes, journals, and refreshments.
  • Contribution of 10,000 TZS covers logistics; solidarity slots available for those who need support.

Experience the Day

Morning Reset

We begin with a grounding exercise and breathwork circle under the palms, followed by a guided visualization to help participants set intentions for the artmaking process.

Time: 9:00 – 10:30 am

Creative Exploration

The art therapist leads step-by-step prompts that invite emotion mapping, affirmation building, and storytelling through color. Supporters move around the circle to offer 1:1 check-ins.

Time: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Reflection Circles

Small groups gather under shaded tents to discuss what surfaced, identify coping strategies, and celebrate progress. Participants leave with affirmations and a care resource list.

Time: 1:30 – 2:30 pm

Community Lunch

We end with a light meal featuring local vendors, encouraging connection and informal peer support. Staff remain available for private conversations throughout.

Time: 2:30 – 3:30 pm
